Early Works

Roderick began painting in earnest in 1964.

These works span from Roderick's early years, before university, until the late 1980s.

Roderick's output came in stages as he juggled full time work and the raising of young children, as well other professional activities.

The period in the early 1970s, when he attended WAIT, was very productive.

However during his time working at the Art Gallery of Western Australia and as the curator of the Robert Holmes a Court Collection little time was left for painting.

Between the late 70s and early 90s much of his spare time was dedicated to maritime subjects, model ship building, and research for his book on the Lawhill published in the early 90s . (His most recent model was completed in 2015.)
